Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 has received the highest rating possible based on the results of Whole Product Dynamic Testing by AV-Comparatives. This type of testing employs user scenarios that most closely resemble real-life ones, and is conducted by the reputable testing lab on a continual day-to-day basis. Based on the summarized results for the period of August through November 2011 Kaspersky Lab’s product earned the highest – Advanced+ – rating to become one of the top-three security solutions to have successfully blocked more than 99% of widespread threats.

Dynamic testing using all available protection technologies of security solutions was conducted on PCs running Windows XP, Service Pack 3. To bring the test systems as close as possible to those actually being used by regular users, a range of widespread, potentially vulnerable programs was also installed. Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 was evaluated with its default settings, meaning it used all its security systems, received regular anti-virus database updates, and accessed the cloud-based Kaspersky Security Network.

The test lab’s experts emulated real user behavior when dealing with widespread and also new, previously unknown malicious objects. Typical user scenarios included visiting harmful web pages, and downloading and executing malicious files. The overall results were based on the number of blocked threats as well as the number of false positive detections of clean objects.

Based on the results of four months of testing, Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 successfully blocked 99.3% of the malicious objects it was fed, including a small number of threats (eight out of 1898) that were blocked after an additional user request. Kaspersky Lab’s product has also proved to be one of the best on the number of false positive detections. AV-Comparatives recorded only one case where an object deemed clean was considered suspicious by the program. Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 in fact displayed a warning when trying to open a certain website. For a long period of time this particular domain had been commonly used to distribute malware, so displaying the alert to the user in this case was in fact justified.

Commenting on the excellent results, Nikita Shvetsov, director of Anti-Malware Research of Kaspersky Lab, said: “The dynamic testing of security software reflects precisely those problems that users face in real life.
